Catch up with Femi Kuti’s live concert in Dublin (Ireland)

saxophone-music-gold-gloss-45243

Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti (born 16 June 1962), popularly known as Femi Kuti, is a Nigerian musician born in London and raised in Lagos. He is the eldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Femi’s musical career started when he began playing in his father’s band, Egypt 80. In 1986, Femi started his own band, Positive Force, and began establishing himself as an artist independent of his father’s massive legacy.

Since then, he has continued playing the music style his father was famous for, i.e afrobeat. Afrobeat can be defined as ‘a complex fusion of jazzfunk, Ghanaian/Nigerian highlifepsychedelic rock and traditional West African chants and rhythms.’ 🎷🎺🎸🎹🎤

Femi also follows his father’s legacy by being strongly committed to social and political causes, as you can notice in his songs’ lyrics as well as his website: 💗

In this article you can see how engaged he is with the issues Nigerian people are currently facing: 😭😡

Now, let me share with you few videos from his live concert at The Academy, Dublin (Ireland) on Saturday 8th July 2017!!🔥 Since these videos were originally Facebook Live Streams, the quality may not be optimum for YouTube. 😳😓 I would recommend you to watch them from your mobile phone, as they have been filmed with my iPhone for mobile phone users! 😉 Subscribe to my YouTube channel to stay up-to-date with upcoming videos!👍

Honore’ – unsigned U.S Pop/Rnb singer-songwriter releasing his single ‘#3LW’

honoremusic picture

As usual, I’m having fun discovering new artists and I came across Honore’s music on Instagram. Since he’s currently releasing a new single called #3LW, as well as looking for collaborations to advance his career further, I decided to write this post to promote his music.

Honore (pronounced honour-ray) is a Pop/R&B singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California.🌹

Hailing from ethnic descents of Creole (African American & French), and Filipino, Honore’ reflects the same diversity in his universal style.

Honore has performed throughout the US and Asia. His favourite performing credits include opening for the Pussycat Dolls at The Araneta Coliseum Manila, singing with Harvey Mason and Friends, Howard Hewitt, Denise Williams, and Patrice Rushen, and opening for Vina Morales/Eric Santos at the San Diego Symphony Hall. Honore is a singer who puts on a great show, whether he’s performing on stage solo, live with his band, moving fans with dance choreography, or writing and producing songs, his originality and professionalism completely separate him from other artists. 💣

Honore’s influences are Prince, Miguel, Bruno Mars, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake. “I want to speak to the world through my music, spread love and inspire minds.” -Honore.

Honoré’s latest single, #3LW is a statement that true love never dies. #3LW written by Honoré and Jasmine Ejan created the perfect R&B love song in a studio with superstar producer Mike Cee, is now available on Itunes. You can download the song on Itunes for only $0.99!

💰 Honoré’s RnB single #3Lw 🙏

Never underestimate the power of #3LW: 3 Little Words, I ❤ You. Honoré gives a respectful nod to classic 90’s R&B music; a time when songs had a deeper meaning, and true love was at the centre of every harmony and lyric. The official music video released on July 4th, 2017, directed by Bobby Torres has an amazing storyline, displaying the ultimate sacrifice of love and all the ups and downs of being in a relationship.

The official music video released on 4th July 2017, directed by Bobby Torres has an amazing storyline, displaying the ultimate sacrifice of love and all the ups and downs of being in a relationship. It will move your heart and you will find yourself singing every line until you reach the emotional twist at the end. Check it out!

#3LW features the talents of Jasmine Ejan and Gino Calantoni. Honoré continues to stay relevant and popular among his thousands of fans and followers. Working harder than ever in between performing and touring, he’s currently recording his much-anticipated, third solo album “SuperFantastik” and in the studio with superstar producer Mike Cee, Elev8t, and RJ Fullrange.

Honore’ also released last year a single called ‘Good Times’, which you can download at this Itunes link:

‘The idea of happiness’ German film soundtrack by Fewjar music band

YouTube is, as usual, an incredible source of talented musicians and actors! 🔍😍

I was looking for interesting films to watch and discovering new music to listen to, and I came across this amazing ‘The idea of happiness’ German film soundtrack by Fewjar music band.

Zachary NelsonGerman film soundtrack 'The ideas of happiness' by Fewja band

First, let me tell you a little bit about the film soundtrack.

The selected soundtrack playlist comes from a Berlin-based band calledFewjar‘ playing in multiple genres such as Electro, the 80s, Rock, Progressive, Psychedelic, Crossover, Triphop.

You can follow them on their various social accounts by checking the links in their Youtube description below their videos. Now, sit back, relax, be patient and wait a minute for the first song to kick off fully!

Fewjar band regularly organises on Youtube live room sessions, where they play for you their songs live in their studio as well as occasionally bring guests to their recording sessions.

They can also play songs upon request if you notify them sufficiently in advance by commenting under their Youtube live videos.

Here are few samples of their live studio sessions, in which they connect with their audience.

What do you think about their music? If you liked it, download their songs from Itunes, Amazon or Bandcamp! 👍😉

Now, as you may have guessed, the film is also in German. But don’t worry because it is subtitled in English. Feeling relieved?😌 It’s a very well done psychological thriller. Although it’s not my film genre, I truly enjoyed it and hope you will, too!

If you liked it, support the film project!

Zeo, the filmmaker, has set up a crowdfunding page for all his film projects and is raising funds for them on a monthly basis: https://www.patreon.com/Zeo

You can give as little as $1 per month so you won’t be too much out of pocket!💰

Nigerian b-boy music in videos

Today, I’m going to share with you some mixed tapes for break dancing from Nigerian artists. But before doing so, if you don’t know yet the general origins of b-boy music and dance themselves, just have a read at these articles 👇

http://www.globaldarkness.com/articles/history%20of%20breaking.htm

nigerian breakdance

In Nigeria, Hip-hop music and dance only began to gain popularity in the mid-1990s. The initial success of The Remedies was probably the catalyst. Formed in 1997, the group released two songs, “Judile” and “Shako mo”, which became overnight hits in Nigeria.

Enjoy this Youtube videos’ play list from The Remedies!

I have also found especially for you some rare old Nigerian funk music 😉:

Now show us your moves on one of these music tracks by copying your video link in the comment box! Can you be as good bowler as b-boy 😝?

Fundraising gigs’campaign for abortion rights (IE)

For those who do not live in Ireland, you may not know that still up to today abortion isn’t allowed under most circumstances. Women are discouraged to abort regardless of circumstances and must travel to UK or other EU countries if they want to abort.

The gigs took place last Friday 10th March 2017 at Sin é pub, Dublin 1 and were organised by Bitches Brew & F-Festival celebrating women in the arts.

The purpose of this night was to fund raise for the Repeal movement and bring awareness of the Irish law in terms of women’s abortion rights.🔥👍 To get a better understanding of what this law entails and follow the campaign on social media, check these leaflets 👇

If you are living in Ireland or are Irish living abroad, sign up for this petition requesting the law to be reviewed and giving women the rights to abort if they choose to 👊:

The event gathered four bands, mostly girls’ bands playing various music styles such as pop, blues, roots folk, rock, hard rock. I arrived a little late for the event and also left early, so I only recorded two bands but I will share with you some videos of the other two bands I missed. Bear in mind that the venue is very narrow in width, so I wasn’t always able to film from the best angle. Apologies for this! For the YouTube videos I made, I have indicated underneath the respective bands’ Facebook fan pages if you’d like to follow them.

Which one you like most and why? Are you going to like any of their Facebook fan page(s)?

I will start to share with you a snippet I shared on my Instagram account:

And now full songs recorded or found on YouTube:

These are two Youtube videos I found of the other bands I have missed:

Prince: Sign o’the Times live concert and DJ set

I hope you have celebrated well new year’s eve 🍾🎉! I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2017 😘🍀🌟🎊!

new-year-2017For my part, I decided to celebrate new year’s eve a little bit in advance 😂! I went to this tribute to Prince with DJ Al Murphy playing lots of Prince’s tunes and then watched the live recording of his 1987 Sign o’ the Times tour on Friday 30th December 2016 at The Sugar Club, Dublin (Ireland).

You can find more information about it in this  event page:

https://www.facebook.com/events/228456610900746/

Here are recordings in picture and audio of the DJ’s act.

img_2201

Now, I’d like to share with you some videos taken at the event. I would like to apologise if the last video’s soundtrack isn’t from Prince! I experienced few technical issues trying to publish a live YouTube video and it ended up recording the visuals without the sound 🤔😤!  So I picked a nice song in a similar style to add to the video 🙂😉. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy them!

Music Without Borders – live concerts (2016)

First of all, before I start talking about the event I attended and sharing with you videos, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas ⛄️❄️!

800px-merry_christmas_card

The charity event in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) took place on Friday 23rd December 2016 at the beautiful and cozy Workman’s Club pub in Dublin (Ireland) 🔥. There was a fun and warm filled atmosphere to it and the live concerts were very good!

If you’d like to know more about the event itself, check their event page.

https://www.facebook.com/events/653950094771897/

You will find Facebook and Periscope live videos on my fan page:

https://www.facebook.com/Fundraising.Music/?fref=ts

The music was varied. It started off with what I would call ‘ambiant music’ with Daniel McDermott playing at the keyboard and using other pre-recorded instrumental pieces. It continued on with a brand new Irish hip hop duet called ‘God Creative and Crimes Against’ and finished off with a folk and pop music band led by Conor O’Mally. Entry tickets and Conor O’Meally music CDs purchased by the audience went into the fundraising initiative for the charitable organisation.

Now, I’m sure you are dying to watch the Youtube videos, right 😜😉?! Here you go!

Did you enjoy these? Have you been to the event and want to share your own videos and pictures? If so, add them in the ‘Comment’ box below!
