Street Dance films starring children or teenagers worth watching!

STREET DANCE FILMS STARRING CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS

I usually post videos or films starring adults but I discovered two nice street dance films showcasing children’s talents. As you know, most professional dancers start at a young age, so don’t dismiss their skills! I have included the full film videos in this post. So have a read of the plots and enjoy watching!

ALL-STARS

The first one is ‘All-Stars‘, a British film, which has received very good ratings and has a nice storyline.

It features the 2010 winner of Sky HD hit TV talent show ‘Got To Dance’ Akai Osei-Mansfield.

This comedy family entertainment film tells the story of two kids teaming up to save their East London youth club by staging a dance show…and have to move fast to avoid humiliation. With one banned from dancing and the other discover that he has two left feet, the pair rope in their misfit mates to put on a show-stopping routine. But can they get their act together in time for their make or break performance?

‘All Stars’ features a cast of famous faces including Theo Stevenson (Horrid Henry), and Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud).

BATTLEFIELD AMERICA WHERE KIDS RULE

The second one is ‘Battlefield America‘, an American film, which has received moderate ratings. I still think it’s worth watching it, though.

street dance films

Starring Marques Houston (Sean Lewis), Mekia Cox (Sarah Miller), Lynn Whitfield (Marcia Parker), and a slew of talented young dancers, Battlefield America is filmed in Los Angeles.

It tells the story of Sean Lewis (Houston), a successful businessman sentenced to community service for a DUI. Forced by children’s centre director (Cox) to teach a band of misfits how to dance, Sean (Houston) winds up learning much more about himself than he ever imagined.

Talented youth dancers – Tristen Carter (Eric), Edward Mandell (Marv), Kida Burns (Tommy) and Camren Bicondova (Prissy) – steal the show in an underground dance competition (aka “battles”).

2014 Juste Debout World Hip Hop Dance Championships (selections and finals) new collaborations – event pictures and videos

Juste Debout (“just upright”) is an international and annual dance competition founded in 2001 by Bruce Soné in France which focuses on street dance styles. The four main categories are hip hop new style, house, locking and popping. They have also been welcoming experimental dances since few years.

This year, Juste Debout has also organised a whole week of activities prior to the event, such as dance workshops with the international judges and parties in various places.

I had the chance to attend the Slinked party and enjoyed listening to the Champion Sound live band. Please view below few pictures of the programme and videos of the event.

They have also added two new disciplines: Just Dancehall by ragga jam and Just4Rockers. Both organisations are based in France and have an international scope.

I have been mostly attending the Just4Rockers breakdance cyphers in the “Salle Marcel Cerdan” in Bercy stadium and watched the finals of all disciplines on the main stage.

I am now happy to share with you videos and pictures I have taken at the event and hope you will feel the same vibes as I did. The competition was fierce and the show very much worth it! The organisers were also lovely.

It is important to be know that Just4Rockers venue was also a dance practice room. Although it was mostly dedicated to breakdancing, you will also find other dance styles (hip hop, popping, rn’b). Since there are quite a few videos (9 videos for this section and 3 videos of experimental dances finals), I am re-directing you to my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/emelinej1/videos

You will also find last year’s Juste Debout event videos if you are more interested in the other dance styles. So, feel free to subscribe to it!

Diversity Crew – Limitless 4th UK/Ireland 2013 Tour in pictures and videos

For fans of Diversity Crew and hip hop styles dances or even acro balance, this is a post-event review in pictures and videos, you don’t want to miss out!

I have been lucky to be able to attend the Diversity Limitless show at the O2, Dublin, Ireland, last Saturday 30th November 2013.

First of all, to my amazement, the show wasn’t only about new style hip hop and the crew itself but gathered different dancers, gymnasts, magicians, and musicians.

I have taken some pictures and videos of the event as well as gathered information about the dancers, acrobats, and illusionist who took part in the event.

Now, let me do a brief presentation of the artists (with their pictures) who are not part of the Diversity Crew itself:

Antoine Marc

Antoine Marc was born in Martinique (French Caribbean Island) and started to dance ballet at 4 years of age at the Caribbean Ballet School of Betty Bylon. He has also been an aerialist and acrobat, working for international productions.

Ling

Ling started dancing in 2004 as a self-taught b-boy, becoming part of the dance group trinity warriors in 2008. He has also become a worldwide competitor.

Acropolis

Acropolis is composed of female and male international elite Great Britain medal-winning acrobats and gymnasts.

Boadicea Ladies

Boadicea dance company was brought together by leading female artist Rhimes Lecointe (street dance 3D and into the hoods) to be a kink in the realm hip hop and commercial dance.

Frazer Freeze

Frazer ‘Freeze’ Bennett is a music producer, composer, and mashup artist from Bournemouth, UK, who fuses urban music with orchestral arrangements, funk, soul, hip hop, R’n’B, pop, dubstep and electronic music.

James Moore

James Moore is a master illusionist doing all his tricks ‘live’  with no camera edits or special edits.

Secondly, you will find below a snapshot of the show story plot:

Finally, you will find below a diaporama of pictures taken during the event as well as videos from some of their choreography:
