Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti (born 16 June 1962), popularly known as Femi Kuti, is a Nigerian musician born in London and raised in Lagos. He is the eldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

Femi’s musical career started when he began playing in his father’s band, Egypt 80. In 1986, Femi started his own band, Positive Force, and began establishing himself as an artist independent of his father’s massive legacy.

Since then, he has continued playing the music style his father was famous for, i.e afrobeat. Afrobeat can be defined as ‘a complex fusion of jazzfunk, Ghanaian/Nigerian highlifepsychedelic rock and traditional West African chants and rhythms.’ 🎷🎺🎸🎹🎤

Femi also follows his father’s legacy by being strongly committed to social and political causes, as you can notice in his songs’ lyrics as well as his website: 💗

In this article you can see how engaged he is with the issues Nigerian people are currently facing: 😭😡

Prince: Sign o’the Times live concert and DJ set

I hope you have celebrated well new year’s eve 🍾🎉! I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2017 😘🍀🌟🎊!

new-year-2017For my part, I decided to celebrate new year’s eve a little bit in advance 😂! I went to this tribute to Prince with DJ Al Murphy playing lots of Prince’s tunes and then watched the live recording of his 1987 Sign o’ the Times tour on Friday 30th December 2016 at The Sugar Club, Dublin (Ireland).

You can find more information about it in this  event page:

Here are recordings in picture and audio of the DJ’s act.

Now, I’d like to share with you some videos taken at the event. I would like to apologise if the last video’s soundtrack isn’t from Prince! I experienced few technical issues trying to publish a live YouTube video and it ended up recording the visuals without the sound 🤔😤!  So I picked a nice song in a similar style to add to the video 🙂😉. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy them!

Hugh Masekela Afro- Jazz 2014 Live Concert in Dublin, Ireland

A few weeks ago, I attended a concert in National Concert Hall organised by the Waltons World Masters and saw few papers around from this music organisation giving a biography of the artists and offering to sign up to their newsletter. I did so and was the lucky winner of two tickets to watch this jazz concert!

Originally, I didn’t know at all Hugh Masekela and his South African band. Consequently, I had no particular expectations from them. However, I must now say it was one the best concerts I have been attended! Hugh Masekela, although already 75 years of age, displayed incredible energy and musical talent throughout the whole show and is a very witty, bright and young at heart artist. His band and himself continued playing about 3-4 extra songs after the due ending time of the concert. Please find below a picture of the band, a biography of the artist (click on the pictures to ease the reading experience) and a video taken at the concert.
