Nigerian b-boy music in videos

Today, I’m going to share with you some mixed tapes for break dancing from Nigerian artists. But before doing so, if you don’t know yet the general origins of b-boy music and dance themselves, just have a read at these articles 👇

In Nigeria, Hip-hop music and dance only began to gain popularity in the mid-1990s. The initial success of The Remedies was probably the catalyst. Formed in 1997, the group released two songs, “Judile” and “Shako mo”, which became overnight hits in Nigeria.

Enjoy this Youtube videos’ play list from The Remedies!

I have also found especially for you some rare old Nigerian funk music 😉:

Now show us your moves on one of these music tracks by copying your video link in the comment box! Can you be as good bowler as b-boy 😝?

Black and white expatriates’ networking party

While I was spending a holiday trip in Paris (France) in April 2016, I thought I might meet international people living in the city to have some fun!

I had found a black and white party advertised on the meetup.com website (Expats Paris) taking place at ‘rue du Colisée’  close to Champs-Elysées and Franklin D. Roosevelt metro station. I was curious to see what it’d be like.

There were around 60 people from different nationalities attending the event, meeting either to build communities or to improve their language skills. I was greeted by meetup members and organisors. Then I was introduced to Michael, who i had asked few questions online before coming to the event. He was friendly and introduced me to few guests.

Then, we spent a bit of time chatting around on the ground floor before hitting the dancefloor. Music was an eclectic mix of latin, arabic, pop and hip hop music. I hope you will enjoy the below video and mixed tapes! Do you also have other videos you want to share? Please don’t hesitate to do so in the comment section!

Breakdance: mix tapes and dance tutorials for beginners

After the success of my post on Hip Hop Foundation moves, I decided to write this one for break dancers wanting to learn foundation moves.

I have come across several videos from different users that are complementary and give a good understanding of how to do the very basic moves in break dance, including the dancing part called “Top Rock”.

Breakdance is not only about spinning on your head, so if you find this a little too hard, start with top rock and easy steps/moves.

Anyway, I hope you will find these videos helpful:

If you wish, you can also buy Instructional Break Dance fundamentals DVDs from the Bboy World Shop here:

Finally, break dance is mostly practiced on Old School Hip Hop or Funk from 1990s. So, if you want to try out your skills, start dancing on these mix tapes:
